หินปูน หรือ หินน้ำลาย พัฒนามาจากคราบแบคทีเรีย พลาค ( Plaque ) หรือที่เราเรียกกันว่า ขี้ฟัน ครับ มันมีลักษณะเป็นฟิลม์ใสๆ บางๆ แล้วเกาะติดอยู่บริเวณขอบเหงือ มีสี ออกเหลือง หรือเทา
แล้วหินปูนเกิดขึ้นมายังไง ?
เกิดจากเวลาที่เรากินอาหาร ยิ่งเป็นอาหารประเภท คาร์โบไฮเดรด ที่มีแป้ง น้ำตาล แล้วเราแปรงฟันไม่สะอาดพอ แบคทีเรียในช่องปาก อยู่ได้ เพราะใช้น้ำตาล เป็นแหล่งพลังงาน สร้างกรดและสารพิษ เมื่อแบคทีเรียถูกสะสม แคลเซียมและอาหารอื่นๆ มาทับถมซ้อนกันก็ทำให้เกิดคราบแข็งเกาะติดจนเป็น หินปูน ในที่สุด
สรุปคือ เกิดจากการตกตะกอนของแคลเซียม และฟอสเฟรด เป็นแร่ธาตุที่มีอยู่ในน้ำลาย
จะเกิดอะไรขึ้นถ้าเราไม่ขูดหินปูนออก ?
สิ่งที่จะเกิดขึ้นกับคุณ เวลาแปรงฟันคุณสังเกตุว่ามี เลือดออก เหงือกบวมแดง มีกลิ่นปาก เสียบุคลิกภาพ ส่งผลแรงแรงอย่างที่คุณไม่คาดคิด คือเป็น โรคปริทันต์อักเสบ ฟันเริ่มโยก นำไปสู่การ สูญเสียฟัน น่ากลัวมาก

สิ่งที่เราจะทำได้ เพื่อป้องกันการเกิดหินปูน คือ
– แปรงฟันให้ถูกวิธีอย่างสม่ำเสมอ 2 – 3 ครั้ง
– ใช้ยาสีฟันที่มีส่วนผสมของฟลูออไรด์
– ใช้ไหมขัดฟัน Floss เพราะแปรงสีฟันเพียงอย่างเดียว อาจเข้าไปทำความสะอาดไม่ถึงคราบซอกฟันของเรา
– ไปพบหมอ ทุกๆ 6 เดือน เพื่อเอาหินปูนออกและ ตรวจสุขภาพช่องปาก ครับ
